Two Cylinder Double Acting Engine

This is a very unique eninge in apperance and operation. Moving the Reversing Lever just 45 degrees from Stop to Forward or Reverse gives instant response. The rotary reversing valve requires very little torque for operation making the engine ideal for Radio Control applications. Construction is simplified because there is only one eccentric per cylinder and no reverse linkages. Steam and exhaust hookup is simplified because no manifolds are required, all steam passage are in the cylinder block.

The crankshaft is of built-up construction. The crossheads are of trunk design. The big end conecting rod bearings are of standard split construction. The valves are piston type

The engine is suitable to power model boats up to about 4 feet in length.

The engine can be built on a small lathe with only a small ammount of miling or hand filing. The engine is constructed of brass and cold rolled steel with the crankshaft and piston valve using standard size drill rod. Altough fairly accurate machining is required as with any small enigne, the operations are straight forward with no difficult or tricky parts.
